ATLANTA,
Feb. 16, 2000
- Airis Holdings, LLC, Atlanta, announced today the completion and
opening of a new sort and distribution facility for FedEx Corp.
at the Louisville International Airport. Airis designed, built and
owns the facility, which is set to open February 16. FedEx, a $17
billion global transportation and logistics enterprise, will lease
the facility from Airis.
"FedEx wants
to dedicate its capital expenditures to buy more airplanes and trucks,
not to own and operate buildings," said David C. Garrett III, Airis'
president. "That's where our expertise and knowledge in building
and operating facilities come into play. In a business where time
means money, we are very pleased to have delivered this project
to FedEx in budget and ahead of schedule."
The 112,000
square-foot complex and its adjacent aircraft ramp will process
6,000 packages per hour and house several other FedEx services,
including a customer service center. FedEx specified and installed
the state-of-the-art sort equipment system.
